Bio

Hi! I’m Baden, a PhD qualified educator with strong ties to industry. In addition to my day job as the Director of Bond University’s Commercialisation Centre, I lead the Startup Community Leaders Missions for Startup Catalyst to Silicon Valley, Boulder and Israel and play support role to my wife in our veterinary business Pet Wellness Centres. I contribute to my regional entrepreneurial ecosystem as a hackathon facilitator, mentor to startups and startup founders, consultant to corporates, commentator in the media, and conference speaker on disruption and innovation’s impact on our economy. I also host a range of events including Ideas Camp for secondary school students, Startup Weekends, and Gold Coast Demo Day showcasing the best and brightest entrepreneurs across all levels of the Gold Coast community.

Short Bio

Baden is a nationally recognised entrepreneurship educator, leading Bond University’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation disciplines for over a decade. He is the Director of Bond’s Commercialisation Centre, building entrepreneurial capability across campus through curriculum, workshops, immersions and events. Outside of the University he leads the Startup Community Leaders Missions to Silicon Valley, Boulder and Israel for Startup Catalyst and supports his wife in their veterinary business Pet Wellness Centres. His background is in commercial banking (NAB) and private equity (QIC), and he is a regular contributor to conferences, community events and the media on the topics of disruption, innovation and the entrepreneurial method.

Long Bio

Baden is a nationally recognised entrepreneurship educator, leading Bond University’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation disciplines for over a decade. He is the Director of Bond’s Commercialisation Centre, building entrepreneurial capability across campus through curriculum, workshops, immersions and events. He is the recipient of two National Citations for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning Through Sustained Innovation, issued by the Australian Learning & Teaching Council and the Department of Education and Training.

Outside of the University Baden is heavily involved in Australia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. He leads the Startup Community Leaders Missions for Startup Catalyst to global innovation hotspots, including Silicon Valley, Boulder and Israel, consults with corporations in innovation strategy, and facilitates startup community events and workshops. He is a regular contributor to conferences and the media on disruption and innovation’s impact on organisations, industries, and communities.

He started his first business in his early 20s in America’s wholesale fashion industry, before working in commercial banking for NAB and private equity for QIC. He co-founded ag-tech startup AgriChain (exited May ’19) and supports his wife in their veterinary business Pet Wellness Centres. A mad Carlton supporter, he played Centre Half Back for Queensland’s 2011 National Championship winning AFL Masters Team.
