Uber and the Gold Coast

Thursday 16/10 saw the official launch of Uber on the Gold Coast. An eclectic collection of creatives, movers and shakers mingled amongst the inspiring atmosphere created by the Rabbit + Cocoon local art precinct in Miami.

It was a pleasure to see some of our Bond Business Accelerator and SURF Accelerator teams there, along with current and past students of mine. Also wonderful was seeing representatives from government at the night: Gold Coast Councillor Glenn Tozer was there along with Ian Pritchard and Craig Devlin from Regional Development Australia – Gold Coast.

Bond entrepreneur Nick Pearce was feeding us with Blackboard Coffee‘s signature donuts and cronuts and a few beverages from another Bond Alumnus business Burleigh Brewing were consumed on the night.

All in all, it was a great night full of great people and a wonderful way to officially kick off the operations of a disruptive innovation on the Gold Coast. At a deeper level, it was a great way for like-minded people to connect and collaborate: bring on more of these type of events I say!
